As soon as you hear these two words together, you probably start thinking about your mother waving her finger in your face while uttering those famous words “….may break your bones, but words will never hurt you.” It’s amazing how often we don’t take the time to think about the words we use. How many generations have heard this string of words uttered to them? Better yet, why do we continue to share this lie with future generations. I recently heard someone say, “sticks and stones break bones, but bones heal over time, words sometimes last an entire lifetime”. When we really think about it, our words, whether to our children, friends, neighbors or coworkers, can and do help shape the WORLD we live in. With that in mind, we might actually begin to make sense of this society and start healing the world we live in, beginning with those closest to us, beginning with our words.
